Descrizione

Peonidin 3-O-glucoside chloride is a natural phenolic compound found in plants. It has antioxidant properties and can inhibit the activity of enzymes such as lipoxygenase, cyclooxygenase, and phospholipase A2. Peonidin 3-O-glucoside chloride also binds to double-stranded DNA, inhibiting binding to the transcriptional coactivator protein CCAAT/enhancer binding protein beta (C/EBPβ). This leads to decreased expression of genes that regulate lipid metabolism, which may be due to decreased levels of the enzyme acyl-CoA synthetase. The compound also has chemoattractant properties for the experimental model Dictyostelium discoideum.
