Tremuloidin is a benzoic acid derivative that is found in the dry weight of the acetate extract of the plant Tremella fuciformis. Tremuloidin has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory properties, with minimal toxicity. It targets inflammatory diseases by inhibiting leukocyte infiltration into inflamed tissue and suppressing the production of prostaglandins. Tremuloidin shows interactive effects on glomerular filtration rate when combined with cyclopentyl or acetate extraction, which may lead to increased renal function. Tremuloidin also has physiological functions in both plants and animals, including sequences for protein synthesis and sample preparation for 2-D NMR analysis.
