N1-Acetylindazole is an inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of inosine monophosphate to xanthosine monophosphate. It has been shown that N1-acetylindazole has a high inhibitory activity against all the enzymes it inhibits, including amino acid derivatives, benzene, and virus. This compound is also able to bind to ligands with five-membered rings, such as tripods. N1-acetylindazole can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis reactions. It can be isomerized by heat or chemical agents into a related molecule that has a different biochemical activity.
