Gallium(III) bromide is a water-soluble compound that can be used as an oxidation catalyst. It reacts with hydrogen to form gallium hydride and release hydrogen gas. Gallium(III) bromide has been shown to have the ability to enhance cancer gene therapy by targeting tumor cells. The structural analysis of gallium bromide in human endometrial cells has revealed a number of hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions, which may be due to its similarity in size and shape to fatty acids. This compound also has the ability to absorb x-rays, making it useful for semiconductor applications.
