This chemical can also form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, and is hydrophobic due to its alkylthio group. 2-Ethylhexylamine hydrobromide has also been shown to have some monomeric character, and as such can act as a surfactant. The solute is soluble in water, but only at high temperatures.
