Ethyl 2-amino-4-methylpyrimidine-5-carboxylate is a chemical compound that is used in the development of drugs to treat infectious diseases. This drug has been shown to inhibit the uptake of chemokines by human monocytes and macrophages, leading to decreased inflammation. Ethyl 2-amino-4-methylpyrimidine-5-carboxylate also inhibits the growth of some bacterial strains by inhibiting their uptake into mammalian cells. This drug is selective for chemokine receptors and does not bind to other receptors, such as G protein-coupled receptors or opioid receptors.
