Fenoxaprop-P is a herbicide that belongs to the group of chloroacetanilides. It is used in animal health and has been shown to be effective against gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Fenoxaprop-P has a synergistic effect with other compounds, such as c1-c4 haloalkyls (e.g., trifluralin) or nitro compounds (e.g., nitrofen). The compound is soluble in water and oils, but insoluble in hydrocarbons. It has a high solubility in most polar organic solvents and is slightly soluble in alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons. Fenoxaprop-P also inhibits lipid biosynthesis by blocking the enzyme fatty acid synthase.
