2-Bromo-3-isopropoxypyridine is an oxidative pyridine that has been shown to be active in the treatment of hepatitis C. It inhibits the transcription and replication of RNA, which prevents protein synthesis and cell division. 2-Bromo-3-isopropoxypyridine has potent inhibitory activities against a number of different enzymes, including transcriptase, cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase, and nitric oxide synthase. This molecule also exhibits excellent metabolic stability because it does not undergo any chemical reactions that could cause it to be metabolized into other compounds. In addition, 2-bromo-3-isopropoxypyridine is nonnucleoside with a pyridine ring.
