Linear regression analysis was performed on physicochemical descriptors and regression analysis was performed to identify pharmacophores. 4-(2,7-Dichloropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)morpholine was found to bind to calcium ions and calmodulin in a way that is similar to other known compounds. The similarity of this drug’s binding mode to known inhibitors of the enzyme ca2+/calmodulin dependent protein kinase (CAMK) suggests it may have potential as a therapeutic agent for cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and angina pectoris.
