The tautomeric form of this compound is 1-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole, which has a different substituent on the nitrogen atom. 1-(3-Chloropyridin-2-yl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole is one of the stereoisomers of this compound and it has been shown to have insecticidal activity against lepidopteran larvae.
