1-Bromo-2-ethenyl-4-methoxybenzene has a nonracemic, enantioselective, methyl group. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHBrOCHOMe. The bromo group and the ethynyl group are on opposite sides of the molecule in a tetracyclic ring system that also contains a lactam. The molecule can be described as conanine with one hydrogen replaced by its hydride, stereoselectively. The transformation of 1-bromo-2-ethenyl-4-methoxybenzene to its azomethine derivative is accomplished with aluminum metal and iodomethane in ether solvent at low temperature. This product is chiral and is used for research purposes only.
