• Descrizione: Des-n-Octanoyl-[Ser3]-Ghrelin (Human, 1-18) is a non-acylated analog of Ghrelin (Human, 1-18), amino acids 1-18 of the peptide hormone Ghrelin. This peptide does not contain the unique N-octanoyl group which is linked to Ghrelin's third serine residue covalently and which allows Ghrelin to associate with the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). Through interaction with the GHS-R, Ghrelin can exert its various effects on the body such as stimulating appetite, nutrient sensing, meal initiation and the regulation of insulin resistance, diabetes and obesity. Its wider functions are also associated with glucose homeostasis, energy homeostasis, cardio-protective effects, bone metabolism and its potential to be a target for cancer means that it can be used to develop therapies for a whole spectrum of diseases. This molecule is used as a research tool for studying cell biology and pharmacology.
