4-Sulfanylbenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid is an alkali drug that is used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other products. It is a chemical intermediate that can be used to make formamide and other chemicals. 4-Sulfanylbenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid is soluble in water and has a low melting point. It also reacts with acids to produce hydrogen sulfide gas. 4-Sulfanylbenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid reacts with formaldehyde to produce dimethylformamide (DMF). DMF is an aprotic solvent that dissolves many organic compounds. DMF is used as a solvent for resins in the manufacture of paints and dyes. It can also be used as a starting material for making polymers.
