Descrizione:Adenylate kinase 4 (AK4) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the AK4 gene. AK4 catalyzes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to adenosine monophosphate (AMP). The enzyme has been shown to play an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and survival, as well as in the regulation of ion channels, neurotransmitter release, and other biological processes. AK4 is also an activator of G-protein coupled receptors and a ligand for certain nuclear receptors. It can also function as an inhibitory receptor for certain G-protein coupled receptors.
