Bis-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-methane is a reactive compound that can be used to synthesize choline. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of liver cancer cells, as well as to induce cell death in malignant brain tissue. Bis-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-methane reacts with anhydrous acetonitrile in a radical reaction to produce the corresponding nitrile, which is a pharmacokinetic marker for this drug. This compound has been shown to have anti-cancer activity and to inhibit disease activity in cancer patients.
