2-(3-Methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanone is a chemical substance used in the synthesis of other chemicals. It can be found naturally in animals and plants but has also been synthetically produced. It is metabolized by demethylation to 2-methoxybenzoic acid. 2-(3-Methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanone has been shown to be biodegradable, with a half life of about 14 days, and hydrochloric acid is the major degradation product. This compound does not appear to accumulate in the environment because it is rapidly degraded by bacteria. 2-(3-Methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanone may have trophic effects on some ciliates, but it does not affect ecosystem processes or other organisms such as algae or protozoa. The endpoints that are known are amide and blood pressure.
