Clopidogrel is a drug that belongs to the group of antiplatelet agents. It is an inactive prodrug that is metabolized to its active form, clopidogrel glucuronide, by the liver. Clopidogrel carboxylic acid undergoes extensive metabolism and is excreted mainly in the urine as glucuronide conjugates.
