Tyrphostin AG957 is a small molecule that inhibits the Bcr-Abl kinase, which is involved in the uncontrolled growth of white blood cells and cancer cells. Tyrphostin AG957 binds to the basic region of bcr-abl kinase, preventing its autophosphorylation. This inhibition prevents the activation of downstream targets such as myeloid cell leukemia sequence 1 (Mcl-1) and integrin receptors, which are vital for cell proliferation and survival. Tyrphostin AG957 has also been shown to decrease oxidative injury in mitochondrial membrane potentials in K562 cells.
