Informazioni sul prodotto
1-(Biphenyl-4-yl)-3-hexylthiourea (BPHTU) is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of biaryl ureas. It is a potent inhibitor of mycobacterium tuberculosis, and is active against drug resistant strains. BPHTU has been shown to be effective in vitro against other bacterial species such as Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium kansasii. The mechanism of action for BPHTU involves inhibiting protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Drug resistance to BPHTU arises due to mutations in the genes encoding the beta subunit of RNA polymerase or ribosomal protein S12.
