9-Fluorenylmethyl N-hydroxycarbamate is a stereoisomer of fluorenylmethyl carbamate. It is synthesized by the reaction of chloroformate and 9-fluorenone. 9-Fluorenylmethyl N-hydroxycarbamate is a labile compound. It has been shown to be an effective antibiotic against tuberculosis in mice. The synthesis of this compound involves the activation of peptidyl chloride, which is then linked to hydroxamic acid or carboxylate. The synthesis starts with the solid phase and ends with cellular biosynthesis.
