1-((3,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)sulfonyl)piperazine hydrochloride is a drug that has been shown to be effective against solid tumours in laboratory animals. It is a prodrug that is metabolised in vivo to the active form (1-(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-4-ylsulfonyl)-piperazine). The active metabolite binds to cell factor and inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species, which may lead to cancer cell death. 1-(3,5-Dimethylpyrazol-4-ylsulfonyl)-piperazine also has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to DNA.
This drug has a disulfide bond that makes it soluble in organic solvents. This feature could be used for delivery of this drug through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy or other systems.
