2,2,2-Triethoxyethylbenzene is an organic compound that has a methoxy group at each of its three carbon atoms. It is structurally related to phenol and can be synthesized by the elimination reactions of benzene with ethylene oxide and methanol. The metal ion in the reaction may be either zinc or aluminum. 2,2,2-Triethoxyethylbenzene is used as a synthetic intermediate for other chemicals and drugs. 2,2,2-Triethoxyethylbenzene is also used to identify phenol levels in the environment.
