2-Methoxyhexanoic acid is a carboxylic acid that can be used as a monomer for the production of polymers with amino groups. It is also an intermediate in the industrial process of cinnamic acid. 2-Methoxyhexanoic acid is reacted with diazonium salt and caprolactone to form a cyclopentenone, which can then be converted to aminophenyl. The aminophenyl can then be hydrolysed to form 2-methoxyhexanoic acid, which has been shown to have high affinity for the histamine H1 receptor. This chemical is also found naturally in fatty acids, such as oleic acid.
