2-Methyloxazolo[5,4-b]pyridine is a chemical compound with the molecular formula of C6H3(NO2)2. It belongs to the oxazole class of heterocyclic compounds and contains a furan ring fused to an isoxazole ring. 2-Methyloxazolo[5,4-b]pyridine has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acrylonitrile dehydrogenase. This means that it inhibits the conversion of acrylonitrile into acrylic acid, which can be used in the production of polyacrylic acid. 2-Methyloxazolo[5,4-b]pyridine has also been shown to inhibit alkylation reactions and to act as an electron donor in cycloaddition reactions involving vinyl ethers or other olefins.
