3,5-Diethyl-isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is a chemical that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cancer cell growth. 3,5-Diethyl-isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid binds to the tumor suppressor protein p53 and inhibits its activity, leading to increased levels of cellular proliferation. This compound has also been shown to have cytotoxic effects on mouse melanoma cells in vitro and can lead to tumor regression in vivo. 3,5-Diethyl-isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is not toxic for normal cells due to its poor solubility in water.
