Biphenylindanone A is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has shown pesticidal activity against insect pests. It also has a stimulatory effect on bone marrow cells, which can be used to study the effects of colony-stimulating factors. In vitro assays have been used to determine the pharmacokinetic properties of biphenylindanone A in rats and mice. Biphenylindanone A was found to be absorbed rapidly through the gastrointestinal tract, exhibiting a short onset latency and rapid clearance from the body. It may also have a role in regulating glutamate receptor subtypes and may be useful for treating disorders such as epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.
