Cyclopropyltributylstannane (CPTS) is a thiazolopyridine derivative that has been shown to reduce cardiac injury and improve the function of the heart. CPTS inhibits the production of collagen, which is involved in the formation of fibrous tissue, after cardiac infarction. CPTS also reduces post-myocardial infarctions by reducing myocardial damage and increasing coronary blood flow. CPTS is a nitro-free drug with an allosteric mechanism of action. It binds to an allosteric site on cytochrome P450 reductase and inhibits its activity, preventing it from converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandin H2 (PGH2). This prevents the formation of PGH2 from arachidonic acid, which can lead to restenosis or congestive heart failure.
