Dodecyl (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoate is a synthetic fatty acid ester that is used as an electrophotographic developer. Dodecyl (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoate has been shown to be effective in the disinfection of surfaces and equipment by removing microbial biofilms. This compound also has deodorizing properties when mixed with other surfactants, such as amines or long-chain fatty acids. Dodecyl (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoate can also be used to clean surfaces contaminated with organic substances, such as collagen or proteins.
