Bid is a protein that belongs to the family of Bcl-2 proteins. Bid is an activator of caspase-8, which is an enzyme that activates the executioner caspases. Bid is a ligand for the TNF receptor and enhances its apoptotic effects by binding to it. Bid has been shown to be involved in cell biology, such as ion channel regulation, cell signaling and apoptosis. Bid has been shown to interact with other proteins and peptides, such as the Src homology 2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 1 (SHP1) and the nephroblastoma overexpressed gene protein (NOV).
