4-Bromo-1,1,7,7-tetraethyl-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydro-3,3,5,5-tetramethyl-s-indacene is a benzylic molecule that has been shown to have a sequence of C9H14. It emits fluorescence in the visible region of the spectrum and crystallizes in a monoclinic crystal system. The structure was determined by x-ray crystallography and consists of an intramolecular silicon skeleton with an indacene core. The photophysical properties have been studied extensively and found to be dependent on the environment. The emission spectra can be shifted by changing the solvent or temperature.
