- Chloro(4-Chlorobutyl)Dimethylsilane
Chloro-(4-chlorobutyl)-dimethylsilane is an organosilicon compound that is used as a coating in analytical chemistry and as a reagent in the synthesis of amines. It can be used to coat the surface of culture dishes for the purpose of preventing cell adhesion and proliferation, which makes it useful for cell culture. Chloro-(4-chlorobutyl)-dimethylsilane has been shown to induce nerve growth factor (NGF) production and increase the number of neurites in cultured rat dorsal root ganglion neurons. This agent also induces DNA mutations, which has been demonstrated using single-stranded DNA coated with chloro-(4-chlorobutyl)-dimethylsilane.
