4,4'-Dimethyl-trans-stilbene is a compound that belongs to the class of fatty acids. It is a product of the oxidation of ethyl diazoacetate with an irradiation process. The mechanism of this reaction is via a liquid phase oxidation catalyst and methyl ethyl trans-stilbene. 4,4'-Dimethyl-trans-stilbene has been shown to produce phenyl groups and vibrational progressions when subjected to fluorescence spectroscopy. This product also has functional groups such as terephthalic acid and polycarboxylic acid sulfoxide.
