9-(2-bromoethyl)-9h-purin-6-amine is a phosphite derivative of the purine base, 9-(2-bromoethyl)adenine. It has been shown to have chemotherapeutic activity in both in vitro and in vivo models. 9-(2-Bromoethyl)adenine is synthesized by reacting 2,4,6-trichlorobenzoyl chloride with adenine. The compound was found to be cytotoxic to human tumor cells and showed synergistic effects when combined with other agents such as chemotherapeutic drugs. In addition, this drug has been shown to act as a radiosensitizer that can be used for the treatment of cancer.
