Tertiapin Q is a transcription-polymerase chain inhibitor that blocks the production of mRNA from DNA. It binds to the polymerase chain and prevents the formation of RNA, leading to an inhibition of protein synthesis in bacteria. Tertiapin Q is used as a pharmacological agent for treatment of brain functions and cardiac diseases. Tertiapin Q also has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in rat brains and prevent cardiac arrhythmias in rats with heart disease. 1) Rifapentine is an anti-tuberculosis drug that belongs to the class of rifamycins.
