N-(1-Methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)-N'-3-pyridinylurea is a serotonin receptor antagonist that binds to the 5HT2A, 5HT2C and 5HT1A receptors. It blocks the binding of serotonin to these receptors, and inhibits their activity. N-(1-Methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)-N'-3-pyridinylurea has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on dopamine release in the brain and thus may be useful in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. This drug also has a low risk of dependence and abuse, making it an attractive option for patients with depression who are concerned about potential withdrawal symptoms if they stop taking their antidepressant.
