(3’S)-Ent-ezetimibe is a ligand that binds to the ileal bile acid receptor and inhibits cholesterol absorption by preventing reuptake of bile acids. This compound has been shown to be an activator of the G-protein coupled receptor, TGR5, which is found in the ileum. This activation leads to increased production of biliary lipids in rats. (3’S)-Ent-ezetimibe may be useful as a research tool for studying protein interactions, receptor function, peptides, ion channels, and ligands.
