2-Methoxy-3-nitro-phenol is a colorless liquid that is used in organic chemistry as an electrophile. It has been shown to interact with hydrogen bonds, which are present in the crystal structure of trimeric and homotrimeric 2-methoxy-3-nitrophenol. The energies involved in these interactions were optimized computationally, and it was found that the three trimers interact with one another through hydrogen bonding. This interaction was validated experimentally by extracting trimers from a gas phase. Studies of this chemical have been extended to include its use as a possible therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.
