Descrizione:

Bis(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane (BHT) is an antioxidant that is used to stabilise polymers and as a polymerization catalyst. BHT has been shown to inhibit the oxidation of other substances, such as fats and oils, in food products. It also absorbs ultraviolet light and protects the skin from the harmful effects of UV radiation. BHT can be used in sunscreens and cosmetics as a UV absorber or sunscreen agent. It is also used as a stabiliser for plastics and rubber products.
BHT can be synthesized by reacting 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde with propylene glycol to produce 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid. This compound can then be reacted with ethylene oxide to produce bis(3-(3,5-di-tert butyl
