4-Ethoxythiophene-3-carboxylic acid is a nitrate compound with potent inhibitory activity against damaged cells. It has been shown to prevent the formation of enolates, which are intermediates in the synthesis of thienopyrimidinones. This compound also inhibits cancer cell growth and tumor development. 4-Ethoxythiophene-3-carboxylic acid is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties. This compound also enhances the cytotoxicity of other cancer drugs such as cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and cisplatin.
