2,7-Dimethoxy-quinoline-3-carbaldehyde (DMQCA) is a synthetic intermediate that can be used to synthesize quinoline derivatives. DMQCA is obtained by the demethylation of 2,7-dimethoxyquinoline and has a bond energy of 155 kcal/mol. DMQCA can be converted to other quinoline derivatives by reaction with different reagents. The regioselectivity of this process is determined by the electronic nature of the substituents on the quinolone ring.
