Descrizione:
Pentazocine is a non-opioid analgesic that binds to the opioid receptor. It has been shown to be effective in treating pain, but it is not as potent as morphine. Pentazocine causes neuronal death by binding to the NMDA channel and inhibiting the release of glutamate. This drug also inhibits naloxone-induced withdrawal symptoms and potentiates morphine in vivo. Pentazocine has a dose-dependent effect on the potency of morphine and its effects are seen at nanomolar concentrations.
