It is used to treat chronic kidney disease, hyperparathyroidism, and other conditions where there is an abnormally high level of calcium in the blood. This drug may also be used to treat symptoms of nephrology dialysis and to prevent bone loss in patients with osteoporosis. Side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache.
