Succinic acid-d6 is an extracellular marker that is synthesized by the pancreas and used as a pancreatic cancer marker. It is a substrate for uptake by the cells of the pancreas, which can be detected in pancreatic cancers using positron emission tomography. Succinic acid-d6 has been shown to be correlated with prognosis and may serve as a predictor of response to therapy. Succinic acid-d6 can also be used to differentiate between different types of cancer through metabolic profiling or in vitro studies on cell lines.
