N-Succinimidyl 7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin-3-acetate (SucHMCA) is an organic compound that is often used in the study of anesthesia. It is a potent and selective inhibitor of protein synthesis. SucHMCA has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells, with an IC50 value of 1.5 μg/mL in a cytotoxicity test. It also inhibits glucose uptake, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis. SucHMCA has not been found to be carcinogenic, mutagenic, or teratogenic in animal tests and is generally regarded as safe for human use.
