3-(1H-Indol-3-yl)-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is a neuroprotective agent that has shown anti-inflammatory properties in a number of animal models. The compound inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines through its inhibition of phosphoinositide 3 kinase (PI3K) and nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB). 3-(1H-Indol-3-yl)-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione also inhibits proliferation in different types of cancer cells.
