- Ethyl(2-Phenylethyl)Amine
Ethyl(2-phenylethyl)amine is an analog of the neurotransmitter dopamine and has been shown to bind to dopamine receptors. It has a low potency, but it can be used for research purposes as a chemical probe for studying the conformational properties of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins. Ethyl(2-phenylethyl)amine is also known to have locomotor activity, but it does not affect blood pressure. Ethyl(2-phenylethyl)amine has been shown to be able to cross the blood-brain barrier and act on striatal membranes. It also binds strongly with deionized water, which may account for its high potency in animal studies.
