1,1,1-Tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane (TPPE), also known as bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, is an organometallic compound with the formula (CH)PPh. TPPE has a high reactivity and is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. The compound reacts with light to emit phosphorescence. TPPE can be used to oxidize alcohols, amines, ethers, and other functional groups to their corresponding acids or aldehydes. It is also used to remove hydroxyl groups from carbonyl compounds. As TPEP is not soluble in most solvents, it must be extracted using an extractant such as diethylether or chloroform. TPPE can also be used for the oxidation of chloride to yield hydrochloric acid
The following are some of the properties of TPEP:
-It is light
