5-(Trifluoromethyl)picolinamide is a drug that has been used to treat pulmonary disorders and chronic bronchitis. It inhibits the synthesis of collagen by binding to the enzyme lysyl hydroxylase, which is necessary for collagen production. 5-(Trifluoromethyl)picolinamide may also be effective in treating asthma and bronchiectasis, as well as fibrosis, due to its ability to inhibit the production of fibroblast-activating factor (FAF). This agent can be formulated with crospovidone or glycolate to reduce irritation in the respiratory tract. The polymorphic form of this drug has an increased dissolution rate and improved bioavailability.
