3-Bromo-2-thienylzinc bromide is a chemical that has been used in the synthesis of aromatic compounds. It has been shown to be an effective reagent for cross-coupling reactions, including arylation and coupling reactions. 3-Bromo-2-thienylzinc bromide is also used as a precursor for the synthesis of various pharmaceutical drugs and herbicides. Nakamura first reported its use in cross-coupling reactions in 1949. Its reactivity is attributed to the presence of a reactive thiol group on the phenyl ring.
