6-Chloro-trans-2-hexenoic acid ethyl ester is a versatile reagent for organic synthesis. It is used in the synthesis of trienes and dienes, as well as in the cross-coupling reactions of alcohols with organometallic compounds. 6-Chloro-trans-2-hexenoic acid ethyl ester can be synthesized by combining methoxide with an alkyl halide, followed by a transmetallation reaction. This compound is also used to synthesize tributyltin compounds through transmetallation reactions.
